Disaster Recovery Framework Guide
Summary
The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery, established by the World Bank, has developed this Disaster Recovery Framework guide to outline how pre-disaster preparedness can be implemented to enhance recovery outcomes. The guide is formated around six modules. The six moduels include 1) pre-disaster preapredness that includes needs assessments and identifying financing, 2) post-disaster assessments, 3) recovery policy that outlines the need for a clear recovery vision and prioirtization, 4) institutional arrangements for recovery, including legal mandates and cross-jurisdictional considerations, 5) financial mechanisms, and 6) implementation considerations. For each module, checklists are provided to guide the user through recommended actions.
Why is this Useful
This implementable guide gives users a comprehensive background in pre-disaster recovery planning. The emphasis is on international response and financing recovery that has humanitarian implications rather than disaster recovery in the Canadian context.
