FR STUWI(x) Naturalization Project
Summary
The STUWI(x) Naturalization Project is a case example of how a community is learning from the experience of a prior flood to naturalize the floodplain by removing all infrastructure from the land and limiting future buildings in high flood-risk areas. The project is purchasing land from owners to transform the area into a natural system that supports flood mitigation and increases biodiversity. A steering committee has been established that includes a community representative to help guide the flood mitigation through the naturalization project.
